A Review A-Boot Zara

I feel like I know a lot of women who have considered buying footwear from Zara but very few who have actually clicked CHECKOUT. I’ll admit to being one of them, always loving the brand but never willing to take that final step – pun intended –  and fully trust in their shoes.

To be fair, it’s not a completely consistent experience. Some of the products are leather, some are not. Some you’d think are leather because of the price, only to find that they are indeed synthetic. And I don’t think I’ve seen one consistent sentiment online as to whether or not the shoes are actually comfortable.

So, I decided to try for myself and purchased two pairs of booties: One in leather and another not. Here’s what I thought.

LOOK & FEEL
When they first arrived, I honestly couldn’t tell which was which. Both were smooth to the touch and both felt supple. I wasn’t about to do a scratch test but I did do a sniff test, making it clear the pair pictured on the left above where indeed leather.

These leather booties have a zipper that go up the back heel, which normally I stay clear of. I find that zippers in that position often get caught or are difficult to pull up. Totally not the case here, the boot zipped quick and smooth.

I don’t know if you can see it clearly but there’s a quirky wave in the heel that stands out in real life. The geometric shape, paired with the pewter-like metal heel and pointy-toe makes these fun but serious. Business in the front, party in the back! I love them.

I wanted a bootie that wasn’t quite so high, which I could wear everyday or when I know I’ll be doing a lot of walking. Oh, and they had to be inexpensive because I know they won’t make it past this season. Sooooo…. check out the price below. They’re beyond reasonable AND for my Canadian friends, on par with the US, which almost never happens.

The truth is, I really didn’t need another pair but there’s always something nice about new booties. These also have an interesting cut-out heel with gold trim. Super pretty.

Cost: $49.90 CAD / $49.90 US

THE COMFORT ZONE
Now, I’ve only tested these out a couple of times and within limited timeframes but I’m a pretty good judge of comfort and I think we’ll be okay. My biggest concern is the ankle being stiff, which can cause scratching on your leg but that hasn’t happened yet. The leather pair will definetly soften up over time, while the synthetic will be easier to maintain when salt hits the sidewalks.

Regardless, be sure to check them out on Boxing Day because when Zara has a sale, they have a SALE!! I’d purchased both pairs on Black Friday for 30% off so it wasn’t a hardship to keep both.

BUT….. I’ll be keeping an eye on these beauties 😉

Have you purchased shoes from Zara? Tell me about your experience!! I’m especially curious about their Spring/Summer selections…. a girl needs to be ready!
