Growing up, I was a never a “girlie-girl” so perhaps it’s not too surprising that I’m one now because I love all things, pink, pretty, frilly. My quirk however is that I don’t tend to dress this way… instead, it translates into the types of shoes I like to buy.
Your Shoe Story
In my closet, my statement pieces tend to be the shoes I wear. I can’t get enough of them and I’m constantly on the look-out for footwear that pops. My shoes say a lot about me and I like them to speak for themselves but I don’t want them to be the first thing people see. What I really love is that element of surprise a good shoe can bring to an outfit.
There’s a popular saying that, “Cinderella is proof that a pair of shoes can change your life”. They can also change a wardrobe! For instance, you could literally wear the same basic outfit everyday and change it up with the shoes you wear. Heels, flats, wedges, slides, ballet, tall boots, booties, kicks, thongs… the possibilities are endless and I haven’t even mentioned the different toe styles and heel types!
My Shoe Picks for Spring
When it comes to shoes, I’m always thinking ahead and to be honest, I’m seriously tired of boots and need something to look forward to. Here are some of my favourites for the upcoming Spring 2019 season.
Pumps – Classic Shoe Style
Every wardrobe should have at least one pair of classic black bumps like these from BCBG but after that, have fun!! You can’t go wrong with adding a blush pink, which will go with just about any fancy outfit you have. These embellished Sandals from Jewel Badgley Mischka are simple and classy. I always get super “pumped” about adding a red for those nights where I want to have fun, which makes the Marc Fisher Brodie Sandals one of my all-time favourites.
Mules & Slides – Shoes on the Go
I adore spring and summer for the simple reason that it’s easier to dress because you can just throw and go, rather than fuss with doing up zippers and laces. Mules are the perfect solution. Because I know I’ll get a lot of use out of them, I plan to invest in a pair of Gucci Leather Mules to dress up basic dresses and jeans. But I also know I’ll definitely be getting a another pair of the Bay Slide Sandal from Sam Edelman because last year, I wore these on repeat! And finally, I’m a sucker for leopard print so I’m super excited I found these leopard print mules with a kitten heel. Super cute!
Thongs & Kicks – Shoes for Fun
Kate Spade has always had cute footwear and their vacation line for 2019 doesn’t disappoint. I’m loving the Lizzy Wedge sandals, which would literally go with every outfit. Also high on my list (maybe first!) is the Tory Burch Miller Metal-logo Sandal in white… I’m obsessed with this one!! And what would summer be if you didn’t have a fun pair of runners? Check out these super cool Whitney Tri-colour leather sneakers from Michael Kors, which are now on sale.
Ahhhh. Shoes make me happy 🙂 I hope you enjoyed reading this post as much as I enjoyed writing it.
