Vacay Prep with Amazon!

This is a scheduled post. By the time you’re reading this, I should be on a beach down South with sand between my toes and a drink in my hand.

Yes – I planned a Fall beach vacation :/

Now, you may be wondering why I say that with a hint of disdain. For those of you familiar with planning a Fall getaway, you may be familiar with this scenario…. You’ve planned your trip and are rummaging through all the cute summer dresses you were sure you had from the Summer. Except, you realize you want something new and different. Then your sunglasses break (because of course they would) and you need sunscreen for sensitive skin. So you run out to the store and realize ALL THE SUMMER STUFF IS GONE!

So, what’s a girl to do? Turn to Amazon!

I can’t say I’ve ever ordered clothing from Amazon so I was a bit nervous about what I’d find. Surprisingly there were a ton of options, most available through Prime, and the reviews helped me make a few final decisions. Not all were hits, but most did work! Here’s what I found.

DRESSES
Before I even start, I will say ONE thing….. before you try on your order, please steam or iron your deliveries. I made the mistake of trying them on right away and I hated every piece. But once I steamed the wrinkles out, three out of four made the cut!!

This NANYUAYA Off Shoulder Strapless Dress was by far my favourite. It’s so flirty and fun, unlike anything I already own, and stays up perfectly. 

I ended up sending the ZIOOER Flowy Pockets T-Shirt Dress back because the material was just too heavy and it didn’t drape well. But the ASSIVIA Summer Floral Midi Dress with Pockets and the INIBUD Tie Front Button Down Dress are stunners! I spent all summer looking for a tie-front dress (shown right) and can’t believe it was right under my nose the whole time. The pineapple dress (shown left) is 95% polyester, which had me worried at first but it looks kind of vintage and retro so I kept it.

SUNNIES
When I go on vacation, I rarely bring my designer sunglasses. If I did, I’m sure they’d end up on the ocean floor. I always have a disposable pair handy but unfortunately I dropped them just a few days ago and they were damaged beyond repair.

I’ll admit I panicked at first and was VERY skeptical that I’d find something suitable on Amazon. But the reviews for these FEISEDY Polarized Sunglasses with Sparkling Crystal Frame were soooooo good, that I decided to take a chance. I was shocked when they arrived not only in a hard case but also with a soft bag and cleaning cloth included. They are definitely spectacular and my husband thought so too!

EXTRAS
I’ll admit to being a bit of a snob when it comes to sunscreen. I don’t need a super high-end brand but I don’t want a no-name either. Neutrogena is certainly a brand to trust and the reviews agreed. I ordered the Neutrogena Sunscreen Spray SPF 45 and 30 which I love because they’re super sheer and water resistant.

Remember please that when it comes to sunscreen, it’s important to reapply often. According to WedMD, the SPF rating is a measure of how long you can wear it before burning. That differs for everyone, in every situation. SPF 45 offers protection for 98% of UVB rays, which is pretty darn good. By comparison, SPF 30 blocks about 97%.

I’ll be spray tanning before I depart, which means I’ll be sure to keep that sunscreen freshly applied!!

The final product I purchased was an RFID Blocking Passport Holder.  I’m OCD when it comes to travel documents so I wanted to be able to quickly locate my passport in my bag. The bright, fun colours will make this one easy to spot.
