April Ipsy Glam Bag Review

Presumably, Spring is just around the corner. Although you wouldn’t know it based on the recent ice/snow store we had here!! Still, in my head the weather is sunny and warm so I was pleasantly surprised that this month’s Ipsy bag reinforced my wishful-thinking.

Let’s have a look inside, shall we?

The Bag: A pretty butterfly print and rose gold bag to go with this month’s “Social Butterfly” theme.
I will say this about Ipsy, they sure have upped their bag-game. I’ve been loving the cute, fun patterns and the quality of these bags is superb. I actually DO use them all the time and for those I don’t use, I give away. Who doesn’t love to give their friends and family little gifts?

Lip Gloss: Dirty Little Secret Cosmetics in Nude Beach
I’ve said this before but I swear that Ipsy reads my mind. Either that or I’m predictably into trends…. so, likely the latter! I’ve been looking for a very pale nude and this fits the bill perfectly. I do love the cute container but I’m not a fan of the vanilla cake smell, which is a bit to sweet for my nose. The gloss itself is not overly sticky, which is nice.

Lip Scrub: Trifle Cosmetics Sugar Bunny
Personally, I’m not a fan of lip scrubs. I really hate getting my fingers sticky and that’s the only result I ever seem to achieve from scrubs. I have enough exfoliating sponges and mitts to do the job much more effectively, in my opinion. This one however tastes amazing and I have a feeling my teen is going to love it.

Eye Shadow: Luna by Luna Cosmetics in Spiced Pumpkin
There were two shades of this eyeshadow, the bronzy pumpkin that I got and a lighter, pinkish colour. I’m glad they sent me the darker shade because it looks killer with my dark eyes and gives my face an overall tanned glow. Normally, I’d go with the lighter shade so I’m glad they pushed me out of my comfort zone to try this out. It goes on great and doesn’t fall off the brush onto my cheeks… I hate when that happens!

Blush: Steve Laurant Beauty Blush in Rosé All Day
In this case, it appears I received the lighter shade rather than the cranberry colour. Good thing because even the more muted tone is way to vibrant for me. Maybe when I have a sun-kissed glow (achieved from self-tanners!), I’ll be more likely to wear this. Until then, I’ll be packing it away or giving it away.

Unfortunately, it appears that an item was missing from my bag this month. But from what I hear, Ipsy support is pretty darn good so I’m hopeful I will receive this eventually. The Royal & Langnickel Mood Metallics Eye Shader looks like something I’ll appreciate. This girl loves gold accessories and I can see myself reaching for this often. It apparently has a fat head with tapered tip, great for base and contouring. Plus, it’s 100% vegan and cruelty free, which is perfect.

Due to one product missing and two products being not-for-me, I’m giving April’s bag 2/5 stars. That feels harsh but I have to be honest. It’s been up-and-down with this makeup subscription and I’m not sure how much longer I can stay in this relationship. Taking it month-to-month for now and we’ll see what happens. I may update my star rating, depending on how they handle the missing item situation. Stay tuned!

UPDATE: Before I even had a chance to post, Ipsy responded to my email about the missing item and a new one is on the way! I very much appreciate good (in this case, great) customer service so I’m changing my April bag rating to 3/5 stars. I really want this to work out so fingers crossed that next month with be a home run!

Until then,

xoxo
Mary
