One Shirt, Three Ways

Last week on @MyHouseOf Zing I tried something a little different with my Flatlays, which was to use the same top and style it three different ways. I then brought them to life in my Stories. In case you missed all the excitement (well, it was fun for me!) I decided to summarize in a blog post. Here we go!

First, the shirt. This is a simple V-neck Top from H&M, which comes in a ton of different colours and patterns. Personally, I fell in love with the horse print that was so adorably cute I had to have it! In store it was $12.99 CDN but I was lucky to find it online for just $7.99 CDN. Who could pass that up?!? It’s not currently on sale but keep an eye on these shirts because they often do.

My first instinct was to pair this with red so I wore it with my Banana Republic Sloan Skinny-Fit Solid Pant in Modern Red. They’re currently online for just $65.99 CDN and BR often has great mark-down offers on the weekends. My Flat Lay shows it with a skinny gold belt and gold flats for a more casual look but I wore this to teach so I dressed it up a bit with a rope belt and healed booties (because it hadn’t stopped snowing yet in Toronto!!).

Next, I wanted a more everyday-look so I had to add jeans! I’m obsessed with these Mid-Rise Cropped Flare-Ankle Jeans from Old Navy. They’re a great deal at $36.94 CDN but just like BR, you can always find additional discounts during weekend online sales. As much as I can’t get enough of skinny-jeans, I needed to have some variety and the wider-leg jean is so comfortable, they’re practical pyjamas. I went for a black-on-black but this would work equally as well with blue jeans. Maybe next time I’ll add a punch of colour and add a more dramatic shoe. For now, the hat was enough 😉

Finally, decided to step-it-up and add a skirt, which is not my typical Spring pick. I don’t have a link to this one but any regular pencil skirt like this one from Zara would work well. If you don’t have one in your closet, a pencil skirt is a great investment that you can wear all year long. It’s versatile, classic and easy to pack! I loved how this look turned out, giving me additional options for school and meetings. Accessorizing with a fun tasselled necklace gave it an even more polished look.

And there you have it! A shirt that cost me under $8 and goes with a number of different bottoms. I’m pretty sure I’m going to get a ton of wear from this shirt!! I mean really…. horses… come on!!

Did you enjoy this post? I’ve love to hear if I should do more like this so please leave me a comment below. For a peak into some other of my favourite pieces, you can check out the Shop My Looks page, which I keep updated as I post to Instagram.

Thanks for following along!
