Fall Bags – What’s Hot for this Season

Fall Bags

Are you a bag-for-every-season type of gal or are you one-and-done for the year? I’m a bit of both… I have a couple of bags I rotate for work items but I love variety in my everyday purses.

If you’ve followed this blog of awhile, you’ll know that I’ve had issues with backpain associated to heavy bags and I offered some advice on how to overcome that. But, I still like to have a new bag now and then, especially in the fall when I tend to carry around more things! Here’s a roundup of some of my favs for fall, starting from small to big.

Compact Bags

I don’t always want to carry a bag and often times don’t need one if I’m just running a quick errand. That’s why I’m obsessed with Michael Kors line of tech wallets. They let me keep all my essentials in one place plus there’s room for my device and even a lipstick! The best part is that it also fits easily into a purse or tote so there’s no need to change wallets. This has been a game changer for me and I’ve been eyeing their studded collection, like this Adele Studded Tri-Color Saffiano Leather Smartphone Wallet.

Another great option is a belt bag, which has made a comeback in a huge way. Except, unlike the fanny packs no one likes to admit to having in the past, today’s styles are trendy and designed to wear crossbody as well. Have fun with this and pick a bag with a funky pattern or design! I’m loving the Taylor Leopard Large Belt Bag from Kate Spade.

Mid-Sized Purses

I tend to gravitate towards shoulder bags that have a wrist option and can also be worn crossbody. This has a lot to do with back pain but really, I just like versatility. When I have my hands full, I need to know I can get that dang purse out of the way!

I also love pattern. My coats tend to be solid colours in the fall/winter so a cute bag that pops is a lot of fun. You can also count of Coach to have classic styles in trendy designs like this Tabby Shoulder Bag in Snakeskin but Tory Burch has also been known to have classy-chic designs… how awesome is this Rowan Calf Hair Bucket Bag!?!

Combining my love for solids and studs, here’s the bag I’m eyeing this season. I had my Instagram friends vote recently and the Mercer Medium Studded Leather Belted Satchel was a fan favourite, by far!

Large Carry-All Bags

There are many items that go into my work bag, including files and a laptop, so having something that I can carry everything in is important to me. Yes, it does get heavy but I personally don’t like carrying too many bags at once. Dooney and Bourke always has what I’m looking for and their Dover Tote line is perfect because it has two sections and a middle zipper pocket to help keep everything organized. They also have a great line of back backs if you’re looking for space and comfort.

With so many styles, colours and fabrics out there, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by the selection. My advice is always this: If you don’t love it, bring it back. Make sure the store you’re purchasing from has a good return policy and bring the bag home, try it out with your outfits, and take a few days to think about it. This is a purchase you’ll be spending a lot of time with!
