Laundry is a hot topic. Sustainable and safe laundry alternatives is an even a hotter topic. Almost a year ago, I wrote about Eco-Friendly Laundry Solutions, and it was received. Since then, I’ve continued to learn more about this topic and am really excited to introduce you to another great Canadian entrepreneur, Angie from Kind Laundry!

About Kind Laundry
I’ve been a fan of this brand for a long time and use their products at home. Their Kind Laundry Detergent Sheets are eco-friendly and non-toxic. Before trying them out, I’d never used detergent sheets and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t sceptical but boy was I wrong! These sheets do the job without messing or fussing with liquids and powder. Even my son’s scuffed knees come out clean!!
Kind Laundry is based in Canada and I absolutely love that they champion a plastic-free life. Their mission is to eliminate over 1 million single-use plastic laundry detergent jugs, one load at a time. These sheets come in a small, compostable, recyclable and biodegradable box that takes up hardly any space at all compared to those huge plastic jugs. Made with only 4 simple plant-derived and biodegradable ingredients (mostly Coconuts) the sheets contain no harsh chemicals but still clean like a boss.
They currently offer Eco-Friendly Laundry Detergent sheets in Fragrance Free or Ocean Breeze (my personal favourite!), a Stain Remover Bar and Wool Dryer Balls. Of course, all their products arrive in sustainable packaging 🌱
Tip: I love throwing a few detergent sheets in my drawers, which keeps my clothes smelling great without harsh chemicals or artificial scents.
Q&A with Kind Laundry Founder Angie Tran
Let’s meet Angie and learn more about Kind Laundry!
Tell us a bit about the moment you first came up with the concept for Kind Laundry. Was it a lightning bolt moment or did you develop the idea over time?
The idea came up when we saw this in Asia. However, in Asia, it was packaged in plastic packaging and didn’t have the cleanest or safest formulation. We took this concept and packaged it so its zero waste and reformulated so its cleaner and safer for human health.
What are your top priorities for your products?
Zero waste and sustainable and safe formulation that actually performs.
What has been your proudest moment since launching this brand?
When we receive reviews from customers sharing how much they loved our product and how it made their life so much easier. Seeing photos of all members of the family… including kids helping with laundry brings so much joy to us.

What does being a Canadian Brand mean to you?
Being a Canadian brand reminds us of how lucky we are to be from a country that gives us the freedom to build businesses that means something to us. The fact that we get to build a business that we are passionate about with so much support from the local community has been amazing.
Also, Canada has an initiative to ban certain single-use plastic by end of 2021 so it’s really great to see these changes made from the Government level as well and helps sustainable and purpose-driven brands like us continue to share our message of trying to be less wasteful.
What sets your product apart from others?
Our customer service and community and the quality of our product. We answer all emails and comments on social media within 24-48 hours, we know how important it is for our customers to have timely communication and we enjoy sharing more information about our product.
Other similar detergents in the market contains starch and fillers…ours does not.

What’s next for your brand? We’d love to hear about your vision for the future!
Adding more sustainable laundry care products! We are working on some exciting formulations to tackle specific stained laundry (baby stains, menstrual stains etc.). Stay tuned!
